Writers in the Garden

City of Asylum’s annual garden poetry event is now in its 10th year!

Join us August 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for a poetry reading in our newly opened Alphabet Reading Garden!

This year we are doing something special: While in the past, we have toured various gardens in the Northside, this year we have a new space to call our very own. Come help us celebrate the opening of the Alphabet Reading Garden with this very special garden event.

This year’s event is curated by Lori Jakiela. She has chosen an interesting mix of writers with very varied voices and perspectives—Cynthia Mendoza, Micki Myers, Scott Silsbe, and Meghan Tutolo. Each writer has also been commissioned by City of Asylum to write a special text representing their perspective on the Alphabet Reading Garden.

This event is FREE but limited to 70 people. Be sure to RSVP!

Tomorrow is the last Jazz Wednesday event of the summer. However, the good things won’t end, they will continue: we are recording this Wednesday’s session live and making a CD from it!

We appreciate and want to celebrate your loyalty if you are a regular Jazz Wednesday attendee. And if you haven’t been able to make it out yet, we want to invite you to come out for this special last event!

So bring your friends and let’s make some noise together for these great local musicians! Let’s party and let Roger and RH Factor know how much we enjoy them.

Great Music, Raffles and Berlin Street Food

And don’t worry! Roger will be back this autumn for Jazz Poetry Month. Check out the Fall Calendar at alphabetcity.org for a full listing of his and other great jazz events.

Jazz Wednesday is a BYOB event, so feel free to bring an alcoholic beverage to sip on while you enjoy the band. Berlin Street Food will be selling their authentic German cuisine at the event, so grab a snack and enjoy an evening food and festivities.
