Believe it or not this silly little Northside restaurant promotion is in its 5
This year the title is “Episode V: The Pastrami Strikes Back” and while you don’t have to dress like Luke Skywalker to attend, there is a sandwich called “Obi Wann a Hoagie”. The promotion now runs 11 days, May 19-29th, so you can get to as many of the participating shops as you can!
The Northside Sandwich Sampler is Pittsburgh-famous thanks to Rick Sebak. He’s produced two videos about the event and you can view them here:
The Sampler this year will be held Thursday, May 19th at The Grand Hall at The Priory. Sample a dozen competing sandwiches, listen to the music of Northside’s own Johnny Angel and his Jam Band, and vote for the Northside Sandwich King (or Queen!). Tickets are on sale now at http://sandwichweek.pittsburghnorthside.com and proceeds benefit ROX Performance Academy, an NSLC program providing free music lessons to Northside kids!
Le Tour de Sandwich is also back! This bike ride to participating restaurants will be Saturday, May 21st and tickets are also available now. Proceeds benefit the NSLC Bike/Ped Committee, advocating for bike and trail improvements on Northside.
So get your tickets soon! We expect another sold out Sandwich Sampler event and the bike tour tickets are limited. And plan to visit the participating businesses all week long to vote in-restaurant for your favorite sandwich joint.
Spread the word and see yinz on Northside!
